Default Just got my first LS1

I just purchased an LS1 motor out of a 2000 SS Camaro and putting it in my 1968 Camaro. Just wanted some advice on what to do with it as far as parts wise (heads, cam, intake, throttle body, etc.) Im looking to get some good power out of it (450-500HP) while keeping it a street car. Any suggestions?

A cam-only LS1 can make 400hp pretty easily...

243s heads,$400.ls6 intake ,$300.port&polish TB ,$70.EPS cam,$400.head bolts and gaskets from TSP ,$250.do a good valve job on the heads ,and install good springs.get some harden push rods, and new trunnion bearings for the stock rocker arms.if you can afford it consider a fast 90/92 mm intake and TB.look at a TSP head/cam pkg.,or go to vengeance racing for a trick flow head/cam pkg.

Cleaning it up for you as it is hard to read....

243s heads $400 (used take offs from C5 Z06 corvettes, 04-05 GTO's)
Ls6 intake used $300 (2001+ Fbodies and C5's, Z06 Vettes)
Port & Polish Throttle Body $70 (you can do yourself as well)
EPS cam $400 (not including timing chain, oil pump, springs, and pushrods)
Head bolts and gaskets from Texas Speed and Performance $250 (can do head studs too)

Do a good valve job on the heads and install good springs. Get some harden push rods and it is recommended to have new trunnion bearings for the stock rocker arms. If you can afford it consider a fast 90/92 mm intake and applicable TB. Also look at a TSP head/cam pkg., or go to vengeance racing for a trick flow head/cam pkg.

IMO how much power you are going to get will depend on drivetrain, as well as the the parts you use. Most LS1's can make 400 RWHP with a Manual and 10 bolt, cam only. Heads though help a lot so if your going to do a rebuild you could even consider swapping in a crank to make it a 383. How crazy you wanna get will depend on budget and time.

Texas Speed is a great place to get parts.
