Default Oil filter

If I use a M1-206 filter , can I use 6 quarts of oil instead of 5.5?

Yes. No larger filter required, you can use 6 quarts on factory filter.

I was always under the impression that a different oil filter was needed to go to 6 quarts of oil.

I use the stock-sized M-107 and it always takes at least 5.75 quarts to reach the full mark on the dipstick. Sometimes I just dump in the last .25 quart and make it an even 6.

I use the same filter. After 5.5 quarts it's right on the money. So, I always have an extra half quart of oil laying around. I was told a larger oil filter was needed for the extra half quart of oil.

The LS1 should eat a half a quart easy between oil changes. Just dump it in after about 500-1000 miles.
