Default Spark Plug Metal Boot Cover

I seem to have lost one of the metal boots that covers the spark plug wire. Do I need it?

thanks

Not a bad idea but you can get by without them. Most aftermarket wires don't use them anyway. just make sure you keep the wire off the manifold/header.

I have MSD wires and I found the 1 metal boot I was missing should I go ahead and use them?

IMO your fine. I run GM LS6 Wires (the red ones) and no issues with touching my Dyna Tech headers.

What i would do is install, leave #3 cyl with out a boot as the way the plug angle is towards the motor if I recal and the way the header sweeps down, it is the least likely to contact.

Once you inspect and make sure nothing is touching, periodically inspect that wire for any drying, rotting, cracking, or burning.

Like everyone else has said, just make sure they don't touch your headers. Mine touch all the time, unfortunatly and I get a ticking sound. I have to adjust them before I take the car out all the time.

I would not install any of the stock metal boots with MSD wires. The MSD boots were not designed to be used with them.
