I went to do my first oil change on my new LS1 yesterday, assuming that the oil drain plug as 15mm as a google search suggested. I got under the car and saw that the plug looked a lot different from what other pics showed...

And a 15mm wrench wouldn't fit around it. Any idea what size this is?

not a stock drain plug , and whats the big deal , slap a wrench on there till one fits . i dont see the problem here . Dont you have tools ?

Slap a wrench on it till you find one that fits and unless the threads are too big and stripped out the oil pan youre fine

It's one of those drain things you buy at parts places. Turn it like a half turn and it drains out. I don't thi k it ever comes all the way off.

Andd id say its a 17 or 18. But i think goat might be right about that. Ive seen a few cars come in with those at the dealership and if it is one of those it doesnt come out you just turn it about a half turn let it drain then tighten it back up but get underneath there and just find out

Eh not quite. This thing he has is massive and theres no spout. Quikvalve uses a 12mm to open and close i still say he just needs to get down there and unscrew the thing and if youre that worried about it being dammaged go buy a time sert kit just in case
