Default Underdrive Pulley Install

I just purchased an SLP Pulley but it did not come with instructions. I read I should torque it with the old bolt to 75ft lbs another thread said to torque the old bolt to 235ft lbs, so im confused?

any help would be great

do it right the first time, use a pulley installer.

DO NOT USE YOUR OLD BOLT TO PULL THE PULLEY ON! There have been people who have ruined the threads in there crank doing this! There is a special pulley installer tool that works really well. Just do a search and you should be able to find it. good luck!

I have herd to put in the oven at 200* for 20 min and it almost slips on ,use welding gloves to handle it.buy or make a install tool and sell it when you are done if you are on a budget.try ls1howto.com for instruction.I believe there is a sticky about pulley installs.

do not go by the mustang install... no grease on the crank to install pully cause for one . ls1 dnt have key way (woodruff key) and grease can cause pully to spin on crank... use this----

*** X2 Use the right tool for the job. There have been lots on here who"dicked" the threads up using the old bolt to "pull" on the new U/D pulley.

After looking at the tool it looks like I need a piece of all thread and a couple of nuts and washers.

1. Does the ASP pulley have wood drift key slot?? I talked with the guys at the station and they said that i need to align it and use a wood drift key to keep the pulley from spinning. I bought my pulley used.

fyi dont re-use the bolt for $5 just buy a new one. very strange i needed a chysler puller instead of a gm (wtf?) my summit pulley didnt have a key so my timing marks are not lined up correctly. if your having trouble removing the old pulley pm me for an old "dangerous" mechanics trick to remove bolt. cheers. ps i strongly recomend using an overdrive pulley on the alternator aprox $20

Most aftermarket pulleys have the keyway machined into them but it isn't required to be used.

Yes the Chrysler puller works well with our pulleys.
