Default MY first LS1!!!

Well guys today I manned up and bought an LS1 that was turned in to the autozone my buddy works at for a core. It was removed from a 98 SS because of a tick noise, which once the timing cover was removed, it was discovered that the timing chain was loose on one side, which is what I think made it tick. The guys came and bought a new remanned autozone ls1 to put back in the car. I dont know much about LS1's or LS series engines so Im all ears to build suggestions. The engine has 50k on it and it came with no pan, intake or valve covers, all stuff that will be changed in the future anyway. I paid $675 for it. I thought it was a decent price.

good deal .go TSP for a ls2 timing chain, they mite have oil pans also.go to the used parts section and look for the parts you need.you can get a ls6 intake for $300 or less.consider doing a cam change before installing the engine in a car.

Ok sounds good gary, im not putting it into anything for a few months if not a year, id like to keep my fbody lt1 and grab an older camaro or nova and slap this in it with a gmpp carb intake or something of that nature. The only reason I bought it was because I knew it was a decent deal and ive always wanted an LS1 to put into something. Its going to be a long term project.

Wouldn't hurt to get some ARP rod bolts since the 98s were weak.
