I had one on my previous ride, don't know what series it was but it sounded really good, but it is a major power robber, I wouldn't even consider it if I were you..........

I have a Flowmaster 80 series and it does not sound that bad. I admit there is better flowing and sounding mufflers. Hopefully soon I will get GMMG or True Duals.

I have a flowmaster on my ride (came with the car) it sounds better than stock and you can hear me coming from a good distance away. It sounds good IMO, even with the bad flow I'm not changing it out anytime soon. I plan on running a cutout to get the flow I want. Best of all I'll save some $$$.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I currently have a cutout and usually run with it uncapped however I have added LT headers and will be adding a cam so I'm worried about the car being too loud in the opinion of law enforcement.

Anybody ever get ticketed for having too loud a car??

p.s. before anybody suggests a power cutout I had 2 and they both broke on me.

I currently have 80 series on my car, and unlike the rest of yall, I was retarded enough... or rather ignorant at the time of purchase to believe it was a good exhaust because of the name. I'm just waiting to save enough and get Kooks LTs and X pipe with bullits all at once. As soon as I do that sucker is GONE... anyone wanna bye mine??? Trust me, you were smart enough to ask around (I didnt know about this site at the time) now heed the advice that has been given, dont listen to Pablo at the Muffler shop when he says there is "nothing better than a flowmaster".

I always thought the Flowmasters sounded good. I like the tone a lot. I had one on my V6 and loved the way it sounded. Flow obviously wasn't much of an issue, though... that thing was as slow as slow cars get.

If your going for sound, check out some other mufflers and see how you like them. If you really like the sound of a flowmaster, you can always do a cutout, as well

it cost me 80 bucks to cut off my muffler, get a reverse y, and dump at the bumper....(you cant see the tips) but it sounds great i think, and i get alot of compliments... only thing i dont like is when its cold, it sounds like a drive by when you let off the gas...

how would a 40 series muffler from a chevy truck sound? its the same thing as the 80 series just different plates inside the muffler right? Im having to redo my exhaust due to the fact that my tail pipes and tips are anywhere close to where they have to be and i gotta cut off my catback fromt he loudmouth resonator back,so im going a different route and imgonna try side exit exhaust. I just haev a feeling wit the loudmouth resonator it might be a bit too much bass in the exhaust tone. I really couldn't care less about power myself. I have a 100 shot of nitrous to plant me in my seat when i feel like going fast. i can get flowmaster mufflers for 15-20 bucks from my buddies shop. anyone think the 40 series muffler off a truck would sound good?
thanks
Travis

LS1 Exhaust sounds

This link has alot of different ones.

Yeah JABERWAKI I wasnt too impressed by Pablo of El Paso TX. He was just too lazy to actually order me a Hooker catback like I wanted when I went there and BSed me to make me believe that nothing beat the Crapmaster.

Personally I want a louder exhaust than my 80 series, I mean it sounds okay but I want something that blows women's skirts up and makes stang drivers cry when I pass (does that exist???? ). Thats why Im going with true duals.

Soldier,
Chad finally bought www.ls1sounds.com, so you don't need to give your
long complicated link anymore.

Sounds great on an LT1 but on my TA with the stock manifolds and cats it was TOO Quiet! Pretty weak if you ask me. When the the headers and ORY went on it really sounded sh%&ty. Got rid of it for a Borla.

I like my flowmaster catback. I have pictures and sounds of it on my website. www.clemson.edu/~jaander I have recieved many complements on it. Although it may not flow as well as other catbacks out there, it does have a very nice rumble to it.

ditto on that... especially when the car is just started in the morning. My father likes it so much he is going to put some on my sisters '99 Z28. I didn't really have a choice in the exhaust since I got my car w/ it already installed.

I personally think the Flowmaster tone sounds great on an LT1 (super deep IMO). And although not as loud, bassy, and mean, it still sounds good to me on the LS1 engine. I say this because I can't stand the way a Borla or SLP Loudmouth sound on our motors. They just sound like crap to me (not muscular at all). And I could care-less if they flow a million times better than the FlowLESSmaster or not...

Mike
