Depends on how much you wanna spend.1 cutout right after Y Merge or spend double and run 2 after headers.1 cutout=loud.dual cutout=open headers=loud as sh*t/almost unbearable most the time

I put a manual cutout in my stock catback right before the I-pipe goes over the axle because it was cheap and reliable. It makes a difference of exactly .12 in the 1/4 mile (I've tested this several times back-to-back and the gain is very consistent). It sounds like complete crap at part throttle, like a dump truck. It sounds pretty good at idle and WOT though. It's a lot like the Loudmouth in that respect. I always leave it closed if I'm not at the drag strip.

Do it right after the headers on the Y pipe. Dont cut into the headers, things will most likely go wrong.

Not to steal this thread, but i've heard the electric cutouts can be very problematic...is this true? Also would there be an appreciable noise difference for me to run a cutout setup compared to what I have now? My mods are in my sig

Yes and no...depends on how lucky you are with the reliability of the unit you receive...some people have them last years and others only months.

Take a look in the sponsor forum about DMH and their supposed "4 year warranty". It's a complete joke since nobody can actually reach them to get repairs or replacements.

i would weld them right after the headers because whats the point in a cutout if your still gonna have it restricted withe the y pipe, i know its going to be loud but thats how ur gonna make more power by making it less restrictive and you can always put the cap back on or if your going to get eletric just flip the switch

You must be thinking of something else. A cutout does the exact opposite of that, it bypasses the muffler(s) and is much louder.
