Would buying an ls1 with 140k on it a bad idea?
#22
Bought mine for $5000 w/141k miles in 2007. The car now has 192k, and runs great.
I did have to replace the transmission at 180k (5th gear synchro), and just replaced the steering rack, bushings, etc.
I wouldn't be worried about the motor though.

I bought my 01' z28 online for $3500 from a guy in Chicago, IL with 256,xxx miles on it and drove it 10 hours home to North Carolina. I Drove it every day for 2 years and never had a problem with it. Probably one of the best driving ls1 cars ive had. It ran strong, and the guy i sold it to did a Ms3 cam and a 4000stall in it and still drives it everyday. Dont be scared! Buy it and drive the **** out of it!

i'm a bit optimistic so a possible worst case scenario
you buy it, drive it easy because of the mileage as you slowly improve the rear/suspension etc. then you cant take it and start beating on it, having fun. engine blows, you buy an LQ9 for cheap and swap that in.
