I am not saying the 9" is bad, it is rock solid. I just dont have any experience putting one in an f body. I helped my friend put one in a fox body mustang and he is cutting 1.6 60'. I havent had my 12 bolt on slicks yet. The 9" also has a great reputation.

well anyone know any good brands beside moser for either the 12 bolt's or 9's
i like the 12 bolt because its original for gm but with the 9' i havent heard any complaints..
Mine dont whine at all, but Ive heard one that whined really really bad, but it was about to break (actually, the guy destroyed the gears that weekend). I wouldnt have even driven that car. I love mine, they've held up very well for over a year with 500+ rwhp. Before that I had the 3.23s in a ten bolt with stock-ish power.

thats only 2 times the rpm at idle. i spoke to one of the original mechanics on the old dicky harrell funny car and he said if you have enough horsepower to push it you can run just about any gear ratio. i chase down amg's most of those drivers didn't order the optional set of ***** that come as a separate package. smoked one last night they taste like chicken!!
good gas mileage at that speed also. somethng to thnk about if you need to wait on a new rear is the big ,thick aluminum cover plate for the 10bolt it has the saet screw plugs that press against the bearing caps and sturdys up the 3rd member alittle cheap insurance for the glass jaw rear end . still need to be careful though.i got mine from t/a performance but i'm sure there are vendors on this site to help you.

wow!! thats one heck of a cover seems like that would beef everything up, axle tubes, 3rd member, the whole 9 yards. summit has those available? how much? wonder if that will hold up under punishment from some drag radials. mine doesn't have the heim joints or the couplings to the axel tubes. the attachment to the axel tubes is it bolt on or weld on?

Strange Engineering also makes a good differential. If you go with Moser, it will come with Chicago Rawhide seals that are complete garbage. Get new ones if you go with the Moser. The Chicago Rawhides started leaking within the first 200 miles. National Parts part #51098 is what Im using now.http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

I've heard alot of good things about strange rear ends, the S60 specifically (I'd say go with the dana but you have to shorten the drive shaft if I remember right) , and for an M6 9" rears are recommended above 12 bolts, vice versa for autos. I'll personally go with 3.90 gears when I get to the rear end, just personal choice.
