Can't spin tires (no asr)
#41
fast is not spinning the tires. Even a s10 4 banger can dump a clutch and spin.
LS1 cars are fast/powerful in stock form. Many of them hit 12s in the quarter. Something that many cars 10+ plus years later can barely do.
in modded form, lsx cars can be wicked fast.
something is wrong with your ls1 or its driver error...
-check the firing of the coils
-is the rearend good
-sure you didnt buy a 6 cylinder?
-tps working
-computer running in limp mode?
-clogged cats?
-etc etc

dunno where yall are getting these numbers, my motor must be FAR worse off than I think it is.
No POSSIBLE way my car would run 12.* not even13, probably not even 14.
A4s are probably slower than the m6 cars but.. I wouldn't imagine it's a very wide gap off the line.
My car so far, in 3k miles I've had my doors blown off in normal city driving (I don't "race" people really..) by a mid 2000s toyota avalon, a subaru forester 2.5xt (a new one) and a ~2000 ford F-150.
I understand that spinning tires is not "fast" but it's a good indicator of making power, and of putting power through the drivetrain and to the ground. My 2010 gmc sierra can light up the rear tires on a dry day from a stop in a turn and burn them for a few feet. In the rain it will burnout for 10 seconds. My 2000 camaro Z28 in dry weather can't light the tires in any fashion, in wet.. well it doesn't rain in GA in the summer. so I can't say.
My guess is that I have a compression problem tbh. I've just been planning to replace the entire engine since I got it. the car as 128k miles on it. I'm sure it's worn out.

You have some pretty major problems, good running cars should hit 13s without a problem. A4s are about as fast as M6s are in a 1/4 mile type race, and it shouldn't be all that much slower than your Corvette was. I think most LS2 Corvettes run in the high 12 range vs mid 13 range for F-bodys(talking average, not fastest).

Ya know I honestly hadn't thought about the fuel pump in mine. I figured.. it runs.. and it will go to wot, it just doesn't like to. It can be very hard to get mine to rev up. Mob do you find the same? I'd be curious to know if you find your problem, we could have the same issue heh.
some clues I have so far as to what could be going on, outside of just compression: when on the throttle on very hot days, like say you want to try to pass someone, the car will blip like you took your foot off the gas/it skipped.
When running it hard, providing it will run hard.. there's an eye-watering fuel smell.
I figured it could be electrical. I've got 6.0 truck coils waiting on me to go on, and already did new plugs n wires.
also, if I have less than 1/4 tank of gas, the car doesn't like to start on the first try. That one puzzles me, as it starts fine any other time. my solution is to keep it above 1/4 tank.

because he is saying he can spin his tires because of the asr switch isnt there ?? niether is mine and with mine being a daily i could use it in the rain

seriously? In THIS car? That corvette was a monster.. yea, it was an 07 so ls2.

all the electronics in my car have a pulse to them. Headlights dim and brighten, gauges, radio and I can hear it in the fuel pump to, it changes pitch in the whine. Car doesn't chug though. I have no problem reving, the idle has a little shake in it. Car is damn fast though

Your power surges, if they are RPM dependent are most likely a faulty voltage regulator. Change out your alt. I had the same problem.
Mine's never fast. Hrmm.. interesting that you would say it's fast but can't spin, perhaps no low end because of.... what? no back pressure? I can't think of anything else that would cause a lack of low end.
also, nw-99ss, I spoke to mti, they want $400 for a compression check. I told em to forget it. It's not worth that to me when I could be having valve and head problems (chattering valve.. it won't give me a good picture of the bottom end if the top end is screwed up..)
I'm just saving up now for the lq9 fund and driving the car as is for the time being.

when i first had my car it would rev pretty quick in neutral but then in gear if the engine had any kind of load on it it would be the slowest pig on the highway...turned out to be a bad MAF sensor

I'd check the MAF and the fuel pump. I had a 95 Blazer that would lose fuel pressure over night and i'd have to cycle the ignition a few times to get it to start. The truck had no power.. it couldn't pull my d!ck out. But it would go from idle to WOT without a hiccup. It ran fine while driving. Then one day it just died, and when i went to start it, i noticed the fuel pump wasn't priming. Once I changed the fuel pump, it would damn near sling the rubber off of the back tires. It started on the first bump of the key from then on, and had good power for a 4.3.
That being said, my first choice on what to replace next would be the fuel pump. I also say check the MAF, because i had an 03 Blazer that ran like **** because of a bad MAF. No power, but started first time, every time and didn't lose fuel pressure from idle to WOT.

you know fuel pumps are a big deal to change on these cars.. rearend, exhaust, tank drop.. I'm not saying I disagree with you, just.. try some other things first.
I'm changing my oil this weekend. it smells like gas and pressure has been falling. (was 50, now it's below 40.)

Fuel pump swap, open trunk, cut hole, change pump, seal down new access plate, close trunk...
Pretty simple.

Doesn't that compromise structural integrity in a car like this though? I mean that's right between the rear wheels. Seems like it'd pose a problem for tight corners and things. I mean there must be some reason GM didn't do this factory?
also.. craziness.. I went out with a data logger (efilive) today.. gunned it from a stop.. car lit em up.. it's NEVER done this until I put a data logger on it to find out why it won't.
