Worst Mod:
HYPERTECH... what a piece.. everyone i mean everyone was out of stock on the speedo corrector when i installed my gears i had to make a long trip and needed my speedo and my tranny to shift right so i just laid down like a dog and shelled out the cash for the HPP3. Took it home, loaded up the performance program took it for a spin and it knocked like a diesel and was slower than ever before. Good for turning on fans, adjusting speedo, top speed?..yes Perfomance? not no but hell no.
Best mod
Gears 2.73 to 3.73
NOS on the way.(The best mod could change in a few weeks)

worst:
SLP y-pipe, only kept it on for 2 months, want a x set up
R/T hi flo cats, waste of perfectly good money
SLP hi flo lid, just didn't like it
Eibach pro-kit springs, should've paid attention to "not designed for convertibles" note on their web site, sat way too low
best:
TPIS jet-hot headers
BMR sfc's & lca's
HAL/QA1 12 way adj shocks and front springs
TPIS 100/90 mm "big mouth" throttlebody
BFG comp t/a dr's & skinny's
Bogart d-10 drag rims
wolferacecraft chro/moly 6-point bar (requested by the track before my return!)
Hurricane Performance Built A4

How do you disable the skip shift?

...and used Radio Shack 271-1121 ½ watt 2.2k Ohm resistor for CAGS skip shift elimination. It is sold in a 5-pack for 99 cents.

Interesting to re-read this 13 years later. I disagree with a lot of what's listed in this thread, both good and bad, and some of these items are now discontinued. As mentioned in an earlier post, this is mostly opinion based and will vary with intended purpose and preference. Very few items are universally good or bad.

In a world where editors resurrect 13 year old threads.
All of mine have been good, and yes it has the LT1 but the mods are more universal to the fourth gen anyway:
*Replace stock 16x8 with BFGoodrich T/A KDWS for C4 sawblade 17x9.5 with BFGoodrich Sport COMP-2
*Core Shifters 6" shifter lever with weighted "billiard" ****
*Replace factory transverse muffler and tailpipes with Jones MaxFlow 2.5" single in/out muffler and DynoMax 2.5" mandrel bent tailpipe.
*Replace factory intake piping and filter for 3" aluminum piping and AEM filter. Would've done the factory/SLP LS1 intake but wasn't about to cut into the core support.
So far that's been it but each one has made a notable improvement, of course the muffler and intake are probably negligible in terms of performance but it does seem more rev-happy and it was done primarily for aural reasons anyway.

Ya I know people ran those stalls back then but wouldnt you agree a 3600 is uselly the min people suggest these days. At least that's what I gathered from the research I did before I did mine. Back in 00-02 i had 3rd gen with a 355. Back then shops recommended 2500 -2800. My buddy has a 3200 in his and it feels a bit weak vs my 3600. I should've went 4000
