What is the stock stall speed? I'm planning on getting a higher stall TC eventually, but I'd like to know where I'm starting out.

Stock LS1 converter is in the 1600-1800rpm stall speed range.

The minimum recommendation from people who are knowledgeable about this platform hasn't really changed since then - it was ~3500rpm back then and is still ~3500rpm now. What has changed is that more people have become knowledgeable about this platform.

A couple things to keep in mind. Not all converters are rated for the LS1 specifically, so a given "3200" might stall a bit higher behind an LS1. Keep this in mind when looking at ~15 year old posts about converters such as the Vig 3200 (it actually stalled a couple hundred rpm higher with an LS1.)

And that 2500-2800 recommendation for your 355 might still be spot-on; there is no universal best stall speed for all engines/setups.

I added 1600 to my 1800 reply. Wouldn't want to mislead anyone!. Thx Ya people must have more knowledge these days like you said explainng why I'm seeing/reading more 3600-4000 in daily driven cars vs 15 years ago. I know choosing the right converter depends on your mods. I still should've went 4K lol
