Alright guys I'm sorry for the delay. We exchanged some heated words... Eventually the guy openly admitted he was embarrassed because he owned the car 5 years and never knew that the motor was incorrect.. He gave me my money back in full, and I went home a happy camper.
I found an 01 ss camaro cloth, t tops, red... 1 owner car. BUT it's an auto. Has 112k and I talked them down to 7250. Should I jump on this deal?? Car is in nearly perfect shape. Rear bumper has some cracking paint, but barely noticeable. And the struts in the hatch need replaced.
Please reply asap on your thoughts of the ss

I don't think $7250 is a horrible deal. The mileage is a little high but with these cars, that's just the way it goes. People drive them. I wouldn't have a problem with an auto unless you are dead set on a 6 speed. With a stall converter in the autos they fly.
I guess it depends on what your budget is and what you're willing to spend. There are still plenty of very low mileage f bodys out there if you look for them, but they can get expensive.
If you're not in a rush, keep looking. You'll find the one you want eventually.

Wow. You are lucky he took the car back. He was under no legal obligation to do so, unless he knowingly made misrepresentations or claims that were false.
If he's been driving it around with the current engine for 5 years without issues though, then the car was probably fine. But at least you now have a better idea of things to check for when shopping for used LS1s. Just remember that head castings interchange between the years, so if the car has ever been modified with a heads/cam package, it's possibile that it will not have the stock casting number for that year. I'm sure that wasn't the case with this car though, since nobody doing a heads/cam upgrade would ever put an LS1 intake or EGR on an '01-'02 car that came stock with an EGR-less LS6 intake.

I wouldn't. I spent 7200 On my T/A with 127K
But it had ~3K in mods.
I don't see spending 7250 on a stock car with those miles.
Glad you could get your money back.
And best of luck in the future.

Some of us would also prefer an auto.

yeah and it just seems like trans am's go for a little more than camaros in my experience. a decent auto camaro can be found for around 5-6K 6 speeds go for a lil more.

That's what I was thinking too. With these cars getting older and rattier all the time if you were happy with the car other than the intake deal I would've tried to get some money back while keeping the car. But, who knows, the idea of losing the car AND money might have made this a volatile situation. Good luck with your search 'OP-I'd look into Lemon's car if I were you...
