I went to discount tire direct and was wondering what set of DR's to buy. Ive seen the nittos, goodyears, yokohamas and the bfgoodrich's. What experiences have you guys had with these tires? I know alot of you choose the nittos. Any particular reason? Thanks.

Nitto's will last alot longer than BFG's. If your hard on your tires expect the bfg's to last 5,000 miles or so. I say go with the nitto's, you'll still hook well and get decent tread life out of them (i got 15k miles out of mine). Also, with any Drag radial... be careful in the rain!

be real careful when you start to wear out in the rain
alot of us run lower than recommended street pressure ie 25 hot versus factory recommended 32.
The BOSSMAN at the chambodia discount tire, originally set my nittos' to 34/32 hot (fuq-tard). Thankfully i caught that a few days later in tech and reset them. his excuse was he had to set them to 32/32 by law. bleh. they'll wear out where it counts too fast (rain traction).
and remember nitto's aren't handling tires, don't expect your tail end to be so sticky gound around corners, my yoko's had a much stiffer sidewall naturally. you will feel the rear end wag more

IMO you should get the NItto's...not only do they hook if you warm them up they last a lot longer then the BFG. I used to work at America's Tire Company (same company as Discount Tire Direct) and the BFG's have a 50A tread wearing as the NItto's have a 100 tread wearing...I've had 315's in the back (nitto's) for about 6 months now and they are barely getting bald, but they still hook like a *****-f--kuh...
I also hook on turns as well so I wouldn't worry about that issue...

If you plan to use these drag radials strictly for the strip, then get some BFG's hands down. I've tried both, and can hook a lot better with the BFG's than the nittos. If you're going to use them on the street and strip, then go with the nittos, they won't hook as well though. The BFG's will wear out a lot faster than the nittos. I saw about 14K miles out of my nittos and the BFG's show wear a lot quicker.

I hoped my buddy Jerflash would have chimed in. Do a search on him and you'll see COUNTLESS (LOL) posts about how his 02 WS6 runs with nittos. He runs the 245/50 16s on the back. Lid, catback, still has the baffles, no air filter, no sway bar, no jack/spare, nittos and some great driving (lil bastage shifts faster than me lol) and his best is a 12.38 at 113. Saw it with my own eyes. He's got several low 12.4s aswell so it's not like that was a fluke. NITTOS all the way.
From personal experience with nittos and BFGs, I find the nittos to hook better on the street and better in the rain. Last much longer too.

I've got nearly bald BFG 275/60's on the '67. As soon as they wear out I'm getting the MT ET street radials. Hopefully they come out soon! Nothing really bad to say about the BFGs, though, the MTs just look badass!

Ditto everthing that has been said. If you want to drive with them every day, get Nitto's. If you want the most traction at the strip, get either BFG or the new M/T ET street radials (or whatever they are going to be called). These have not been tried and tested like the BFG, but with the M/T history and the success of the ET streets, I would be willing to take the gamble.
