I thought the same thing. But could be wrong.

free mod help need help, just done some free mods to my car, cut the air lid box,plastic piece over radiator,cut egr valve, nothing else was done. i can tell a little power difference. but now my car is idling funny. sometimes it idles way low(like 600) and sometimes real high(1400) it also jumps sometimes 100 rpms back and forth. Does anyone know what the problem is. my car is a 98 z and it usaully idles at 800 rpm.
i dont think you can do the egr without getting it tunned ... i may be wrong but it i thought the computer will think something is wrong if ya remove the egr without deleting the egr crap out of the pcm and this is what is probally causing your car to surge on idle.. id wait till somebody else chimes in but you may need a retune to fix this or yuo could have possible damaged your maf that might do that too but id say its most likely the removal of your egr without a retune....

i got it fixed. what it was was the egr screw worked itself lose and i had a bad vacuum leak i couldn't hear it before, but it got worse later tonight. but we solved the problem now its running great. thanx for the advice

You can remove the EGR without any problems.
