no offense to anybody here but all the advice in here sucks!

OP is new to LS motors and modding cars from what it sounds like.

OP read stickies in each section about external modifications first and internal modifications.

everyone will give you a list of parts that worked great for their set up but you should know what you are going for.
An awesome sounding cam with large numbers will sound appealing but you have to figure out if your car is a dd.
Some cams aren't good for daily driving and some are.

If you read my post, you'd see a full bolt on, and a tune. That'll give the 405+ HP he desires, and it's still a VERY street-able car.

If you want the "405hp" that the Z06 is RATED at, then get long tube headers, catback, lid and a tune and be done with it.

405rwhp takes a little more effort.

It's 405hp RW or FW? Cause the ZO6's rated theirs at the FW.

405 hp on the zo6 s rated at at the flywheel on NET hp with the accessories hooked up.
same as all Engines after the mid 70s. RWHP ususally means you can add about 50-70 hp to the engine, gross hp with no accessories is the actual power the engine makes on a dyno with nothing hooked to it.

there is only a 50HP difference in a ls6 and a ls1 and it is all made in the heads/cam/intake

and 01 and after ls1s have the intake already.

you can easily hit that hp goal without having to tear into the cam, although a cam is a good place to start for a good HP bump. I would almost certainly do 243 heads on a stockish LS1, it incrases the compression ratio. flows better and will make your engine perform better overall. there also cheep. After that I would work on Headers because that will be the next biggest jump in power and performance for bolt on.

match it with a good exaust maybe a ported throttle body, and good lid and then get the motor DYNO Tuned and you will be making more power than a Zo6 for under 2k

I have to agree with some other posters here. Your car already has (or should have) the LS6 intake. Invest in some 1 7/8" longtubes, and pick an exhaust system to your liking. Get a mail order tune and see where your are. If you're still not satisfied, then its time to start looking at heads/cam options.

Dont buy a aftermarket MAF the stock one will do fine with the power you want.

Tons of R.Ricans where I live in Texas. Most my best car buddies all P. Ricans lol. Sorry off topic but already lots of good advice given. Just will add that like some others I wouldn't worry about making your engine a LS6/Z06 replica. Instead use some well thought out aftermarket parts for a streetable, fun, setup making more than LS6.

I'm so looking for LTH, ORY,Motor mounts and Tuned. I already have a Magnaflow muffler on the car and a Volant intake and 405 hp goal is not too far in the distance.
