Here is where I learned to do it!

Also, if you don't change it about every 15,000-20,000 miles it can start causing wear on your fuel pump. You will be surprised how little air you can blow through the used one versus the new one.

Huh..

op, if you do all this and you're still having trouble.. it will probably be time to check fuel pressure. (on that note..)

my car's fuel filter looked ORIGINAL when I got my car, it was caked in mud I could barely see it.

When it's hot out and I'm in the throttle more than 1/4 way the car has like a skip/hesitation that can happen 3-4 times in a single acceleration. It only happens under load.

I haven't bothered to check it, but low fuel pressure will certainly mess with your performance.

as my dad always put it.. you need 3 things in the right mix to make it run right.. air, fuel, and spark. Check all 3 of those.

OP, also... no one mentioned it yet. What fuel are you running? If your not running premium it will pull timing and slow you down quite a bit. It drops you into the low octane table in your tune.

Have you scanned for misfires? Fuel trims?

Have you checked fuel pressure?

Those would be the next steps, IMO. At your mileage, the fuel pump and injectors may not be at 100% any more.

First of all, when you(or I) buy a "used car" your taking a HUGE risk.I'm sure that the previous owner said that it was a "gem" (they always do). I always go through the car. I/E check brakes for wear, replace air, fuel filter and pcv valve. Sea foam the **** out of it,Change the oil. etc...Start it cold, and look at the tail pipe for blue, or excess white smoke.Yeah, with that many miles, the MAF might not ever have been cleaned, who knows.Hope this helps,$.02

I have that same problem with my z28, the hestiation/miss feeling you get with acceleration over 25% throttle opening. But I have replaced my fuel pump for bad fuel pressure. And it still did it. But I have yet to do a plug and wire change, which I'm working on atm. Just wondering, think old wires and plugs could cause this?
Note: No misfirring codes.

It can be. My old ford 5.slow had this same kind of behavior under load and it was a bad wire.

My car has new plugs n wires already, leading me to think it's fuel pump, injector, or coil.

determinign WHICH coil or injector if it turns out to be one of these should be a real challenge. I'm a bit surprised as frequent as this is that there is no misfire code.

OP - Where are you from? If any of us lived near you, we could help out with basic maintenance.

New plugs, wires, oil, clean your intake/replace it if it's not K&N, I hope your using 93 octane? If you do all of these things and it's still a turd and you dont have the money to look into it more, trade it in to a dealership lol. Stock LS1 cars should run anywhere between 13.0 and 13.6 stock.

Yeah, I could see that, if the wires were all gummed up with K&N oil. I've come across a couple MAFs over the years that were victims of over-oiled filters, and they get so dirty (the wires) that not only does the engine run less-than-ideal, but the trans (auto) doesn't seem to shift right either (I think MAF readings have some sort of effect on line pressure).

If the MAF was a mess, then cleaning it up can do great things.

i wuld also take it to your local chevy dealer ship and have them hook it up to their BG machine. Its a Fuel Induction service they offer. they run your engine only on a canister of special injection cleaner, they also hand clean the throttle body so u can skip that if u want an just let them do it. its about 120 something bucks and only takes about an hour. Well worth it. they also add an additive to your gas tank
