Default Custom slp exhaust

Whats goin on guys, I have a extra slp loudmouth catback in my garage that I'm thinking of customizing and throwing on my car....so my question is what if I were to use the 3 inch single pipe with the resonator And cut off the split 2.5" pipes and instead do a split 3" pipes...so it would be the 3" I pipe to dual 3" pipes to my tips....is there any gains? Any more sound? Better flow?

so instead of it branching out after the axle, you would make it 2 pipes pretty much from the ypipe back? your original post confused me alittle. i was under the assumption that the slp catback was 3" all the way to where the tips go and only at the tips does it get smaller

well depending on how much power your pushing out, the .5" isnt going to make much of a difference at all

You're gonna have to get a 3" to 3" Y merge after the I pipe then keep it 3" all the way to the tips, is that what you meant?, An exhaust shop should be able to do that!!! You would have to measure the bents for appropriate range to the back then you can put some nice looking exhaust Tips!!!

@Ronny...yea that's what I'm trying to do....full 3" cat back...would that give me a few more horses? Would it be louder? I don't want to do a true duals set up because of clearance issues!

It will probably sound deeper. An increase in power would hardly be noticable imo.

the cost that it will be to replace the existing part of the system with the 3" (which i still think the slp was a full 3" mandrel bent pipe) is not going to be worth the power.. if you dont already have an ls6 intake, that would be a much better mod to get for the money

I have an 02 ws6 so I already have the ls6 intake, I also have a volant intake cai, ported TB,LT headers, ory, catback, nitto 555R, and diablo tune and some suspension stuff(getting 3.73s done this weekend with a TA girdle)...instead I spending $150-$250 on that exhaust set up I'm aiming for what would be a next mod for about $200-$300 that will give me n extra kick?

Leave that part alone. Worry about your y pipe merge if you haven't. I'm assuming your an auto so throw a stall in there, 3600 minimum

Loud depends if you have cats or not, a cam also can change the sound too, but like said on a previous posts, its not worth it for the money, minus well use that money for another mod that gives you more hp for the same price that you'll spend in a custom exhaust. The SLP is 3" and it splits to two 2.5" all the way to the tips, there shouldn't be much difference if anything at all. IMO Just leave it alone like it isand do another mod.
