Default which oil?

Flame suit already on, buttoned up tightly.

403 LS2, uncoated piston skirts
Comp LSR lobed cam
Link bars

Not sure how anything else would come into play... so for brevity, i will end the mod list there unless more info is needed. Break-in will be in a couple weeks with a fill of 5qts dino and 1 qt comp break-in. After that, whats next?

Been looking and it seems there isnt a 5w30 VR1. RP has it. Havent looked into amsoil much. I kind of want to avoid stupid expensive oils due to running e85 and having fairly short change intervals... at the same time i dont want to save $30 per oil change and then spend $3k on another (yes, another) rebuild. I plan to get an analysis done at the first change and that will obviously dictate intervals in the future.

Am i overthinking this? Are higher ZDDP/other additives really a big concern on a hydraulic roller engines? Really trying to cover ALL bases with this build. Any info appreciated... i feel like i am swimming in a ton of misinformation or info hat simply does not apply to me at times.

The additional ZDDP content of VR1 is not required for a roller cam, though it wouldn't hurt it either. I use VR1 (10w30), but only in my flat tappet engine.

Default Oil...

Is Valvoline synthetic for me, 10w40 then i add zinc, i too use E85, and yes must watch oil condition, i run it a Lil on the lean side in idle and for normal driving to keep oil good longer. I don't use any oil that's dark from the get-go cause it's harder to read and looks used, out of the bottle.
If their EGO needs color, I'm out of their cage.
I check the oil in a very un scientific way, just put a drop in the tip of my fingers and rub, if the film says good, stays, if it feels a little thiner and white-ish, N-G, if any trace of foamy, then is running way reach.
