Next Mod: Headers, Wheels, or WS6 Hood?
Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice/opinions on what mod I should go with next. The car is an 01 non-WS6 T/A with only a lid and a cutout. Keep in mind the car is my DD, and I'm on a budget
For headers, I was considering BBKs, and for wheels, c5z06 (original, i know).
EDIT: It is an a4, but I to go to school 2 hours away, and I'm constantly going back and forth from there and home. So I'm not looking to do a stall while I'm still at school.

Rims... But NOT C5Z.
Grab something with a nice lip on it, RPM r 505s or something of the sort... And lower it with some BMRs or something.
A good looking car starts with rims/stance. It will COMPLETELY change the look of the car.
After that I would concentrate on power/fun mods.

Thanks guys
A stall is kinda out of the picture for me because I go to school 2 hours away from home, so I'm driving back and forth at least twice a month, so I don't want to hurt my gas mileage.

FWIW Headers are going to hurt your mileage pretty bad unless you can afford a tune to go with it. My car has been running pig rich since the long tubes went on and I'm pulling low 20s average instead of mid 20s like I was before the headers. Just something to think about...
I vote converter as well... but if your choices are rims/hood... I would go with lighter wheels then the hood.

I'd go wheels.
IMHO, but I can't stand T/A's with stock 16's. Visually, changing wheels is the biggest thing you can do to that car. I'd skip the WS6 hood, at till you get new wheels. WS6 hood with stock 16's just looks silly to me.
And X 11 BILLION on the skip the C5Z wheels comment. Those wheels were played out 5 years ago, and even if they weren't, they look like total **** on a T/A.
Since you're on a budget, look for a set of used WS6 wheels (either style) with good tires. They pop up for sale on the boards and CL every so often. I have '01 WS6's on my Formula, I think they look killer, and I got them with good tires for a great price from a member here a few years ago.
Whatever you do, congrats on getting the T/A! She looks real clean, AND is the best color!

Yeah, at 40mph or so, your torque converter locks up, which eliminates any slipage, so regardless of the stall, it will drive just like stock with the converter locked.
It's when driving around town at under 40 or so when the TC is unlocked that the higher stall will negatively effect your mileage.
Once it locks up, it doesn't matter at all. That's why this is a great mod if you do alot of highway driving, you won't lose any mpg.

Here's a great recent thread with some great info about stalls...

RPM WS6 drops a TON of great knowledge.

i think you should go with both hood & rims "imo".
headers will need a tune,stall.. you're going to be spending more on fuel
future wise you'll use another stall different setup.. upgrades.
just seems to me that a 2 hour drive with headers will totally screw your budget up.
but that's just me.
hell my car spent almost 1/4 of the tank just 10-15miles after i recently (2 days ago)
installed texas speed headers 1 7/8.
fyi: 02 Ws6 T/A M6 - Not Tuned Yet.
