I buy mine done, whole lot easier on the wallet . It's always nicer to build it yourself but I built my '69 myself (with help of others, obviously) completely and I barely drive that damn thing.

This thread is old! lol
Paid $6,300 for my car with 67000 miles on it in September 08. Will have spent around $5000 in parts by the end of this month and have seen no gains.
Nothing is installed yet..lol...i just keep accumulating parts.
Cant wait till Febuary not going to feel like the same car...
I still need Tranny/Rear/alot more suspension parts!

I added up mine a couple of years ago and it was about $6000 in bolt ons but that was before H/C, small shot, rims, and a 9 inch so I guess it's close to $12,000 now.
Oh well, I love it!

Wow old thread but I shall jump in. Cam, UD pulley, clutch, flywheel, supporting mods for both, and installed with dyno tune was like 4k. Full exhaust, lid, filter, and installed was like 2k. So probably like 6k prolly plus a little i'm forgetting haha. Most of the money is installation prices, I plan on doing the rest of the work myself haha.

Most i paid so far is about 50 bucks worth of gas. Paid 6 grand for the car 2 days ago, haven't put a single dime in it....yet....
I put about 1500 bucks in my truck when i had it just in a year in nothing but appearance parts...
I should be getting a new job soon where i will be making about twice as much as i do now, so ask me again in a year and i'm sure it will be a different story.
Then ask me again in about 3 years after i have my degree and have more bank then i know what to do with
