You shouldn't gain even a 1/10th, but most of the mods together should make it feel a little more powerful. All I've done is the FRA mod and I could actually feel it a little. Then again, my car is bone stock besides a K&N filter.

You could always do some "inexpensive" mods... Intake, catback, etc. What are your current mods?

He's gonna need these before his H/C build anyway. Free mods, gears, and a canned tune should hold him over until then.

I have American Racing headers, Borla cat back, Vig 3400 stall, Lid, Hypertech programmer, Kenny Brown subframe connectors, Mickey Thompson DR, and a ported throttle body and MAF. It ran its best time of 12.80 @ 108 last weekend but my cousins nova runs 12.60's and I cant wait to blow him away with my little small block as he refers to it as lol

Is the LS6 intake gonna be enough after I do the head and cam or should I just save the baby steps and go straight to the fast intake?

Depends on what you plan on making power wise. The ls6 will be fine for heads/cam though. You will be leaving a little power on the table but you have to ask yourself if the few extra HP is worth the extra cash

My buddy has a 98 vette with a H/C combo with the ls6 intake w/tune makes 430 rwhp. With the fast 90/92 or even 102 he would see a nice increase in hp.

So it all depends what you want.

I'd pull the converter and throw a 4000 back in its place... Will put you a few tenths quicker than him.

@ lemons12 is a 4000 stall streetable? I still drive it on the street when the weather is nice and I wouldnt wanna hurt the streetability of the car.

@ blk98vert My 60' times are very inconsistant and someone told me I must be spinning or something so Ive been working on that issue. The car doesnt feel like it is but anything that can help reduce the possibility is greatly appreciated. LCA brackets are on order :-)

I wouldnt go 4000 on a street car 3600 max unless youre running a cam that calls for it and at that point you know damn well it aint a street car lol

BINGO!

If you can afford it, then get a FAST 102 w/92tb, fuel rails, and 42lb injectors (around $1700). Otherwise get a LS6 and 42lb injectors.

A quality 4000 converter is absolutely streetable. I ran a VIG 4400 for almost 2 years every single day with 410s.. The old combo had a PTC 4000 and 373s, it was very pleasant to drive.
Those were both DDs... For a weekend/nice weather car a 3600 would be on the small side for me, 4000-4400 would be just right.

You do realize that the difference betwen a 3600-4000 under normal driving habits is around 150 RPMs? This would never be a noticeable difference.. However the flash and shift extensions and the performance gain would definitely be noticeable.

As for a cam it is all in the tune... Before I had my tuner tune the 226/228 .588 114 cam that was in the old combo my Ms4 car had WAY better street manners than the 226 car had. The 226 car would buck a tad under low mph lock up and about once a week stall out at red lights. The Ms4 car never stalled and idled perfect at 850 RPMs.

Ditch the POS hypertech and get a real tune or at least a mail order tune from Frost and you will be a lot closer to your goal.

Add a ram air scoop like the Fast Toys of Chris1313 ram air along with the tune and you should be running door to door with that nova, possibly even passing him on the back half.
