Father's day gift
So the wife tells me 'Here's a grand, go spend it on your car." My problem is, what do i get? Thought about headers and hptuners. Or maybe drag radials and suspension stuff. What would be more fun? Only upgrades ive been able to do so far is a clutch. Thanks for any ideas

Do you have a catback and lid? Is so, I would get a set of headers and ORY and a tune. You can get the TSP 1 3/4" stainless headers with ORY for about $500 and then a tune will cost you about another $400-500. Or maybe get a mail order tune which would be cheaper (around $150?). Then you'll still have money left over to find a used LS6 intake which you can find for around $350. That's a good amount of mods for $1000 and will get you some very solid gains on power.
TSP 1 3/4" headers $529
Mail order tune $150
Used LS6 intake $350
$1029 - not bad at all for probably an easy 30-40hp. (assuming you don't already have an LS6 intake equipped car)

BBK longtubes and y, SLP Loudmouth catback, Lid, taylor wires and a tune
headers/ypipe 350- about 100 back for your stock cats
Lid 89
taylor 10.4 wires 80
LM catback 300
and you can probably find someone locally to street tune it for around 150-200.

OrY
I don't see why almost everyone goes for the single out exhaust. Why not dual 3s? And ive been really eyeing the BBK pipes. Just seems like im wasting the Y pipe when i get duals. As far as tuning goes, I'm not a computer genious, but im fairly savy. Would i be in over my head with hp tuners programmer? Seems like i could save a ton in the long run tuning on my own whenever i got a part instead of waiting til i got a couple pieces, then getting a tune.
I do need a lid, and yes it's on 00 Z28. I had my cats removed a while back and replaced with a 2.5" Y. The rasp coming out of this thing is unbelievable, so it's going to be on the list to replace..
Thanks for the ideas!

Many dnt go wit dual for 2 reasons.... 1)I believe Kooks is the only company that makes dual that go ALL the way back(and it's not cheap) 2)ground clearance is a issue with our cars... That's why GM made the driver side pipe on the Y Flat... And about the HP tuners I'm not sure... Goodluck on your build tho...

MMM gears.. hadnt thought of that.
I have an exhaust guy that'll run whatever i want real reasonable. (Had my cats removed and replaced with pipe along with some other small stuff for a c note)
And didnt really want to go over the axle. I dont drive the car much so if its loud thats good, as long as there is NO rasp. I was thinking dual 3" dumps.
How bad is flowmaster, i've always loved the way they sound. but if it will cost me an excess of hp ill swap to something else.

spend some on your wife maybe these kind of gifts will happen more often...hahaha
but for real it all depends on what you want. Every mod adds a little hp. If you are handy with tools you could do a cam swap and a mail order tune with 1k i would think. Thats probably what I would do. knock out a big mod with a grand and than the lil couple hundred buck mods come easier.

cam swap
I considered getting a polluter kit, but knowing i'd need a tune stopped that. Also with stock manifolds and 2.5 inch Y would it do any damage? Or would it just not perform quite as well?
As for spending money on the wife, she has a set of bewbs coming up and she knows it.
