Cool Whats this hose?

This hose goes flat when i start the car and im pretty sure nothings getting through.

ive popped it off and the hose is clear of any blockage itself.

im not sure if it transfers oil or air but i was gonna try taking it off and driving a bit.

what is it? what does it do? and since its going flat, is that normal or is there

a blockage somewhere? and is this a major problem?

you can drive with out the pcv valve ,but you will have a lot of oil in the intake.if you plug that hose you will need a breather to vent the crank case.some people use a water separator for a air compressor to catch oil .

New PCV is GM or AC Delco 12572717 or Autozone AC PC339

I did a write up on this in another thread if you to replace any of the hoses.

well, i replaced the valve this morning but it didnt fixed the problem. so i drove the car easy up to va where im staying at. bout 80-100 miles.

about 5 miles away i hear a ticking thats louder than the normal ls1 tick. i get to the apartment and park the car to check it, but had to run inside.

i came back out and tried to start the car, but it wont start. all i hear is one click.

EDIT:::this is probably due to the heat of the engine but my positive battery terminal bolthead was hot.

if its from the engine i think it got a little bit hotter than usual. maybe it was because the oil didnt flow right?

some people told me it was the starter. so i replaced the starter today and the car is making that same weird noise and wont start.

any ideas?

this is my DD and i need it fixed asap. **Note the gear on the flywheel didnt look that bad and i dont think the flywheel did either

Might want to try posting in the general maintenance and repairs section, there is some good diagnostics that go on in there.

sounds like a internal problem could have spun a bearing, or bent a pushrod describe your problem in the internal engine section, also did you notice any issues with oil pressure or did it seem normal

Isn't the PVC part of the vacuum diagram under the hood?

How's your battery? You might want to check that out and get it load tested.

on the topic of PCV... delete that crap. plug the rear vent on the passenger valve cover.. run the driver side one around the back and up the front into a diaphragm style PCV valve (one with just a hole. no little piece inside) and then into a catch can.. out of the catch can and back to the intake.. i redid mine this way and it would collect about 8oz of oil between oil changes that would otherwise go straight to the intake
