2.73 gears vs 3.23 gears does not make the car that much faster. I know of a intake/exhaust/tune LS1 Camaro with 2.73's running high 12's in the 1/4 mile.

I would start with exhaust, headers, a lid and work your way into more serious mods.

Regardless, it still makes it a bit faster. I know stock camaros w/3.23s running high 12s aswell. No exhaust or tune.

Skip the rollers, that is a waste of money IMO.

Ls6 intake or not stock for stock the vette should win lol, tune up for sure, imo save more and buy a procharger,my biggest mistake was not going boost from the start, because honestly we all head that way anyway, i would do a d1sc/fuel upgrades n tune, that will make ya happy for awhile, then i would do mods like exhaust etc, then when ya get done with all that save for a forged block, boost cost more but ya get more, you will have a way faster car in the long run, thats just my 2 cents,

thanks for all the input guys. I have a nitrous set up that was on my old lt1 vette. I may transfer that over and start with a 75 shot. Not sure if I will go wet or dry. vararam should be here next week. So that is a good start.

A lot of older Vettes have timing creep in the ECM, I read on it a while back. EDIT, may not be timing creek...been a while since I read up on it. Most times the fix is have the tune altered, a lot of cars have this issue with detonation.

I have driven older C5's that ping there *** off(detonate) stone stock. Needs to be fixed in the tune.

Dunno why they just do.

If it's doing this the ecm is killing power because of the audible ping.

There is also a TSB for replacing the rear knock sensor to fix the ping issue, fixes some, some not.

Why not? If you dont drive like a ******** it should hold up just fine. I'm lookin to do an STS turbo build that will be on a car that will be bone stock other than the tune.

You don't have to drive like a dick to break ****. Most of the GM drivelines aren't really known for their strength, and most transmissions/rear ends can and will break under stock power. And of course more power will break more ****. It's easier and smarter in the long run to at least upgrade the weak links before adding any serious power.

And on top of that, boosting an otherwise stock powertrain won't get you anywhere near the potential of whatever it is you're boosting it with, especially if you supercharge it on stock exhaust like he was suggesting.

I have seen guys run 10's on a stock 10 bolt over and over in full weight cars.

Seen the same with stock 4L60E's.

If you dont ****** a car around, wheel hop it or put slicks on it and drop the clutch at 6000 rpm the stock drivetrain aint bad, much better in the vette.

I posted yesterday to a newb with a six speed Z28 wanting 400rwhp. Some guy said he needed:

Stage 2.5 5.3 heads, cam, 85mm maf, ported throttlebody, big lid blah blah blah.

WTF??!! guys and been making cam only 400rwhp with stick cars for TEN YEARS.

This few posts in here remind me of that thread.
