Default Radiator steam port

lookin at switchin to a griffin radiator, was wondering how needed the steam port was, i was going to get a welder at work to weld in a bung on it but dont think thats going to be able to be done anymore, could i just cap off the lines and be fine?

Steam port is needed to relieve the pressure in the heads

Do not cap off the lines, you will have a boatload of problems including over heating in the heads and air blocks in the system.

ight lol, i think im gunna tap my waterpump then for the steam port, thanks guys!

If you can't get it welded to the radiator for whatever reason, you can drill and tap your water pump and run that line there.

I have an LS in a Mazda Miata. I used a griffin Rad and it sits just a bit below the steam ports so I drilled the waterpump and installed a t with a plug on the top end to make filling easier. Once the rad is full I pull the plug out and the car takes almost another 1/2 gal before the bubbles stop burping out the plug's hole. Never had a cooling issue after that.
