Clean a blackwing a/f with???
Hey, this might be a dumb questions but can I use the K&n cleaning kit to clean the blackwing filter my car came with or should I order the blackwing one online?

i wouldnt bother with the oil in the k&n. far as i know the k&n oil is for use with that filter only because of the material it is made out of. either way people have reported problems with the oil coating their MAF and other things. i never had a blackwing filter but id assume you could clean it with water like i did my k&n.

The filter that a SLP-optioned SS came with (the 335
or 345 HP package) is not a foam filter. Different than
the later oiled-filter Blackwing aftermarket thing. Which
do you have?
If you really want to reuse the OE Blackwing, I'd just
go with blowing it out, backwards, with shop air until
nothing more comes off.
But the OE Blackwing filter was only marginally better
than the Purolator when I tested them, and so I just
saved mine unused in a Fram box, in case I ever want
to sell "originality".
