alright so I did my oil change with Mobile 1. about 3k into it the "oil change" light would come on after starting and goes off after a minute. Put my 99 camaro up on the rack at work and found I have a rear main leaking. Took it off the rack and checked the dip stick. It was a little low so I added some oil. Got to 5k mile mark and did my oil change today with mobile one and k&n oil filter again today. Even after the fresh filter and oil and proper level, 5.5 quarts but I went ahead and put 6 in it, the light still comes on after starting and goes off after a minute. Any ideas? Should I be worried?

The oil change light will come up when a set amount of revolutions has been achieved by the engine. When you go WOT it actually deducts more. Anyways, after a certain amount of revolutions has passed it comes on. - This is only accurate with conventional oil.
So basically you just need to reset the light now or either the next time you change your oil if your running conventional.
I personally always reset the light every oil change, that way I have a friendly reminder when my oil's quality WOULD be diminishing if I were running conventional. - I run synthetic however.
