408 w/ LS1 Oil Pan. How much Oil & What filter

Default 408 w/ LS1 Oil Pan. How much Oil & What filter

How many quarts of oil do I need to use and can i still use a filter for my car or do i need to get one for a 6.0car

6 QT's of oil to fill it.

These are to 2 filters I run, These filters are the long version of the 2 types that fit the oil pan.

If its the first time starting the motor, fill the oil filter with oil as well. 10w30 joe gibbs or comp break in should be fine. people are telling me 10w30 is the weight to go with. 5.5qt or 6 is about right.

For my actual oil I will be running Valvoline VR1 Race full synthetic. 20w50. you may wanna go 15w30 but the summers are hot here so it shouldnt matter although oil pressure may come up some.

I am actually going to change oil 4 times by 400-500 miles.

1st after the first heat cycle.

2nd after we "seat" everything with some WOT runs.

3rd @ the first 100 miles.

4th at 400-500ish.

Then should be good for 2000 mile intervals until the day it croaks.

May not be the way some would do it but hey...makes me sleep better.
