Ls6 intake worth it with my mods?
I have a 99 t/a with long tube headers,3.5 y pipe high flow cats,3.5 magnaflow cat back, ported tb,underdrive pulley, slp lid/k&n , free mods and tune by new era. Made 316hp/326 ft pds. (129 k miles) im looking to upgrade to ls6 intake. I know they shine with cam/heads but not looking to do that with these miles. Just looking for few extra ponies to hit a 12.9(best is 13.054) worth it with my mods and will i need to retune? I have 3:23 (auto)gears that im sticking with. Any other bolton mods to knock off a tenth would be great also? Thx in advance

All those bolt-ons and you're only making 316 and 326? Makes me wonder what I'm making with a 99 z28 with some bolt-ons.
I've seen some good reviews for the Typhoon intake. That's what I'm going with this winter. More power than the LS6 (or so the rumor is). Should be comparable in price.

I'm surprised you're not in the 12's as it is (and such a low dyno number). Granted, we don't know your DA or anything else, but it seems like you've got enough to get there with an auto (albeit with "low" trap speeds). Does the engine seem to be in good shape (plugs, wires, fuel, etc.)?
Anyway, back to the manifold...
If you're looking to upgrade without spending gobs of money for a FAST setup, then I'd certainly be looking at the LS6 intake (or Holley or BBK). Might as well do the LS6 PCV conversion and coolant tubes while you're in there!

Launching!

The LS6 intake shines in mid-range and up top. I gained 2+mph and 2 tenths with an LS6 intake mani/ported TB consistently in similar DA. Get an FTRA/SSRA/Chris1313 true cold air and you'll definitely be there. You already have a 12 second car. All you need is better air, slightly better launch or other method to get that slip.

Thx for all the feedback. Car does have 129 k( well maintained) on it but runs strong. Was 100% stock til 115k when all boltons were added. Has factory tires which do spin a bit out of the hole. Stall coverter with these miles would be safe? Im going to be upgrading wheels/tires this winter. Hp numbers might be a tad low due to miles? Great site. Ive been on other sites where it takes days for someone to replyquick other question. my fans pretty much stay on all the time . Is this normal? At start up while warmimg up there off but once you stop after short/ long drive there on all the time. Weird cause its been invthe 50's here. Temp gauge is normal/coolant good ect. I bought this car off my buddy who owned it for 8 years(just sold my talon tsi awd). He cant remember if new era tunned it that way? Ive read if you put 160 stat in you have to get fans programmed to turn on earlier. Feel free to give me all the info you have? Thx again!

Read the stickies up top ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The intake is usually worth 5-7 horse and close to 10 ft/lbs of midrange TQ
The LS6 pcv valley cover does help minimize the oil in the intake dillema but
does require some cutting/grinding of a small casting boss to clear...not sure
if it's worth it to you.
The stall converter is the single biggest mod you can make and many people
will suggest a 3200-3600 even for a stock longblock combo, however you
WILL need drag radials in order to capitalize on the benifit.
I'd say the intake, stall, retune, and drag radials will have you in the 12.30s
with quality air.

Thx for all the replies! Just picked one up tonight paid 300 for intake and BMR strut brace. I have BMR kit on car also (frame ties ect) doing the ram air mod and bought smooth bellow. I know strut brace/bellow don't do much but every little bit helps

I have ported tb/coolant mod/throttle mod. From research I've done for a a4 its about average. There's some that are 10-25 higher in HP but there also are some about the same and slightly lower. I do have 129k miles so I'm sure I'm down a few HP due to that? 13.048 was quickest time(3.23 rear) Is my time/ HP average for my car? Not sure on dyno? Had dyno tune at newera. There a good shop. I'm on stock tires also. Spins pretty good when I take off and when it hits 2nd gear. I'm doing ls6 manifold/smooth bellow and ram air mod. That should dip me in the 12's? To me numbers don't matter. Its the time just looked on they sight. They use a dynojet 224x dyno. Just checked my slips. Went 13.048 @ 107.16mph best mph was 108.69/13.147
