the lightining is a 5.4 s/c engine, and the cobra is still using the 4.turd, uh, 4.6

3rd Gen lightning= 5.4 SOHC cast iron with aluminum heads, non forged internals, 9.8 or so compression, Eaton M112 Blower, 375 hp at the flywheel.

03-04 Cobra= Cast Iron aluminum headed DOHC 4.6. Forged internals, H beam Manley Rods, Intercooled Eaton M112 Blower, 8.5 Compression, Stock boost is between 8 and 10 depending, 3.55 rear end.

the cobra is so easy and cheap to mod i would instantly assume that any cobra you run into is laying down close to 500 ponies.

No the lightning is not even close to the cobra, I've toasted lightnings in the lowly LT1...havent run into a cobra yet but I imagine things will get ugly quick.

Lightnings are damn bricks, especially if you're racing them from 70-110. and they weight near 5000 lbs i think. Mustang's aerodynamics aren't that great, but much better than Lightnings and they weigh significantly less.

ls1s are underrated......i have a bone stock 2002 m6 z28 that dynoed at 320 rwhp.....the car is sayed that it has 310 too the crank.....a guy has told me it is because my camaro was one of the last ones made that came with the Ls6 block.

I dynoed on my 98 SS with just Loud mouth exhaust and they claimed it was making about 315 , i know i might get spanked when i eventually get beside one but thats ok with me ill give it a shot ford decided to wait till GM got its bad boys out of the market anyway to come up with a decent powered car but like everyone says slap a supercharger on a LS1 see what she will do

It's not the LS6 block, that doesn't make a diff in hp. The newer cars do benefit from higher flow exhaust manifolds and an LS6 intake, though. 320rwhp is relatively common for stock, newer F-bodies. My 98 A4 took a lid, headers, and duals to make that! (untuned)
