Default Help Asap!!!

Ready to destroy someone/something....heart beating and raging out of chest....i'm on the I95-15 connector cruising i will admit around 65 or 70 when all of a sudden a rattleing and whistling noise that i have never heard in my life started happening. I immediatly slow down thinking it was something going wrong w/ either my rear or tranny or just something really really important. All of a sudden these 2 shinny pegs...couldnt make them out clearly b/c i was obviously still moving, bounce on my door and out my window....then all of a sudden, the whistling turns into a full blown roar and my ******* t-top flies off the roof of the car. WHAT THE ****>...thank god as i'm glancing into my rear mirror...the top bounces and i would imagine shattered onto the side of the road and no one was back there for at least 30 to 45 seconds. Now i have a problem, it rained last nite...havent touched my tops since sunday....not a drop of water in the car, there is no way i didnt have it on right b/c my window would not have sealed properly to keep out the monsoon we got throughout yesterday. How the hell did this happen, is there anything i can do to get GM's *** on the line so i dont have to pay probably the paycheck or two it will coast me to replace this. ANd (at my g/f's house right now) how do i know my other one is safe?? Rippin pissed, ready to kill....please help!

Check with Tbyrne they are a sponsor. He often has cars he is parting out. Check with your insurance if you have full glass, it only cost like $9/yr, there is no deductable.

110% positive that they were locked, if they arent off, i always keep em locked....last time i had them off was sunday, drove to work, home from work and sunday nite home from a carshow, then on the way to my g/f's house today it decides to fly off. Yea i'm confused about the 2 pegs too..and i cant find any remains along the road either....i wanna say the two shiny pegs were the silver locks that actually hold the top on...somehow they came loose???

Depending on the year...but my 99 came w/ a square key for the ignition, and a round key for door/trunk/t-tops locking and unlocking, on your bar that has the handle for taking the top on and off there should be a keyhole, from there when you put your top on....you use the round key to lock the top on as you would lock the front door of your house. Yea, everyone out there that didnt know this could happen, use me as an example and please start locking your tops if you havnt been already. I deffinatly had the handle all the way locked...but not locked w/ the key...this could have helped.

Man I have had both of mine fly off.....one the exhaust shop didnt re latch them....the drivers side went and I held the passenger one on after I figured out what happened. Then the actual locking mechanism broke on my passenger side one and it flew off. Two options.....ebay....i got my passenger side one for 120 bucks shipped....two.....brazelton or something like that....they sell gm parts cheap....brand new too....the drivers side one i think was 320 or something....but ebay is most likely the way to go.....remember 93-02 camaro/firebirds will fit!!!!!

Yeah, which direction do you turn the key to lock them though? You turn it clockwise to unlock it right? I've tried before and didn't think you could turn it the other way, do you lock it by turning it counterclockwise?

I haven't gone out and checked, but I seem to remember mine are opposite eachother.... Probably not, but that's the way it seemed. Maybe because I do one from inside, and one from outside. .... Sorry about your misfortune.
