Default lowering question

how much of a drop do most lower their fbodys? I want a more aggressive look but still maintain decent ground clearance (especially w ground effects)

Search the suspension section.
1" to 1.2" drop is good for proper suspension geometry, handling and ride assuming the spring rates are not all wacky.
Don't forget to get good shocks if you don't want your car to ride like an old ox wagon. And by good shocks I mean something like bilstien or koni at minimum if you are on budget, not some cheap autozone junk or drag coilover pretending to be a protouring coilover.

Depends on the spring rate, each company should have the info on how much they drop the car. Here's Vogtland springs.

Here is some data although I would tend to think some of these measurements are outdated, I know the BMR's are for sure.

Here's bmr 1.25" drop, I have some crappy roads where I live and I wouldn't want to go any lower than this. I have tsp long tubes and haven't scraped once.

I'd recommend no more than 1" personally. You're biggest clearance opportunity will most likely depend on how well your LT's (if applicable) can "tuck up" during installation. I've always used Pacesetter LT's and never had clearance issues.

Concerning shocks/springs- Bilstein for shocks and Strano or BMR springs. Take it from my experience, do NOT install any version of Eibachs.

^^^^ Exactly what he said.

I went with Bilstein shocks and Strano springs. They're typically a 1.25" drop. They looked great however my headers and y-pipe were dragging on the big speed tables here in Atlanta so I reworked it to tuck up a little tighter and it's just right. I still have to be careful with sharp inclines on driveways/parking decks, however I can get in and out of most places without trouble.

I went with kyb agx on all four corners with vogtland springs and was quite pleased with the performance and ride quality. The vogtland were a bit more on the extreme side tho for a drop. And don't forget that if you drop it then you need to get rear lca relocation brackets at the same time to maintain proper geometry and performance.

Out of curiosity, what is wrong with eibachs? They are a pretty legit company that has been around a while

Totally false.
You don't need relocation brackets, and in fact they actually hurt geometry for handling and braking. For handling its actually ideal for the body side of the control arm to be pointing down, doing the opposite can cause roll oversteer and brake hop.
For strait line traction the relocation brackets will help, but at the cost of hurting everything else, like most drag parts.

Sagging spring issues, not enough rate for their given drop in front, and sometimes too much rate in the rear.

Ah. When I did mine I noticed that my lca were knocking around until I put on the relocation brackets and then it felt more planted and the noise went away.

That would be due to you probably torquing the LCA bolts down better with the relocation brackets. There is no noise or anything like that to be had with either setup.
