I haven't topped my car out b/c, for one at those speeds you'd be dead if you lost control and more importantly the ticket if caught at those speeds would be . I have a '99 M6 TA, ram air hood, hooker exhaust w/cutout, K&N, 18" c5 wheels with 275/35/18 tires, and the hurst shifter option. I had a friend that asked me what the car tops out at and I told him I wasn't sure. Is the car electronically limited to a certain speed? No, the car is not limited electronically.

You'd be able to hit ~160 mph with the lights down and windows up.

 

all cars with the z-rated tires from the factor are limited to 162, the ones that came with the non z-rated tires (mine ) are limited to 118.

 

I thought you had the poweer to put it to 167 but it was limited at 165 or 160.

 

But he's got the hurst shifter, so that's gotta be good for more than 170. j/k I just checked my hp tuners and the speed limiter is set to 160. Why is it that everytime someone sees my car for the first time the first thing they ask is "how fast you gone in that thing?"

if you took the speed limiter of the car, would your engine over rev?? like would it blow if the limiter usually goes on at 119, but your doing 140+???

 

I've been approx 155 with the windows down Its very noisy to say the least. A4 with stock 3:23's.

 

I think I only got mine to like 160. Didn't want to go to far into the red.

 

yea a six speed hits 5500 rpm's at 158 and the computer stops at 160 but six gear wont pull 160 unless you got some extra power

 

i thought fifth was the fastest gear? sixth wouldn't do any good. anywho did 140 once in mine (can't recall gear probably 5th) and it seemed rock solid and could easily do atleast 20 more. that was when i was 100% stock.

 

I went 140 mph once. That was enough for me, don't have good enough roads to even think about risking all the speedo has to offer. My A4 with 3.23 it didn't shift from 3-4 until right about 140.
