They make two different Firehawks. One based on the Formula, the other based on the Trans Am.

The wider spoiler with the LED tail lights going all the way across was an optional upgrade, which not many people actually ordered.

From what I have heard a firehawk isnt made by GM, persay. It is a modified version done by an aftermarket company. The one you saw with a 'firebird spoiler' was a formula firehawk. The TA style one is a TA modified into a firehawk. GM produced the cars and the company added their own little perks much like SLP and the SS. I think the firehawk is done by SLP even (may be wrong on that but you get the point).

Firehawk = SLP
WS6 = ASC or ACS or something like that I believe.

The big LED one was only available for 2002 on the Trans Am Firehawks.

Yes, the WS6 package was offered on the formulas but only up to 2000. After that you could only get it on Trans Ams.

Also the factory trans am hood is changed out to SLP's copyrighted Firehawk hood as well.
The "long" led light spoiler was called the "Iroc" spoiler.Which was another option from SLP.
So the only cosmetic changes made were the rims, hood, and the upgraded spoiler.
And of course the the "Firehawk" stickers on the outside.

There was also a 10th aniversary Firehawk for 2001, which got gold wheels, gold stripes, different stickers, and bades as well as a special spoiler, I will go out and look at mine, I know it is a lot wider than the regular spoiler, bit I don't know about the long brake light. I was told that that spoiler was only offered on the 10th aniversary addition. You may find out more at:

http://www.firehawk.org/

I think that they are very interesting cars, thats why I bought one.

If you ever go to any NHRA Drag Races, a lot of the Firebird-based cars that run Super Stock (Al Corda, for example) run a Formula body with ram air hood. You can go to a national event and see anywhere from 3 to 15 of these, depending on the region of the country you live in. I wonder if that's where they all went???

BTW, Corda was the first in the 9's in SS if I'm not mistaken.

Just a little trivial info!

I have a 98 formula ws6, and they are rare 1 of 221 in 98. Strangely I have seen 3 WS6 Formulas in the last 2 months in my town, def more T/A Ws6's though.

So the Firehawk has a Formula spoiler (at times) and a T/A front and a T/A rear? Then at others it is a T/A front and a T/A rear and a T/A spoiler. Then you can get an even different one with a T/A front, T/A rear, and a big LED light spoiler. Oh GM...

no, the firehawk based off the formula got the regular firebird spoiler, no ground effects and the firebird front/rear fascia.

the TA firehawk looked exactly like a trans am except for the hood.

both the formula and TA versions of the firehawk got the same unique ram air hood, which resembles a cross between a "raptor" hood and a WS6 hood.

then u look at camaros.....SS----Z28.....thats it...
