Default A/c Problem

What's wrong with my system if the compressor cut's on and off every 30-45 seconds? The A/C is still cold and seems to be working properly.

Do you mean while you're in the car it will stop blowing air all together & after a few moments it will start blowing again??? If so it sounds like the problems not with your compressor, but more along the lines of the blower motor or the htr/ac control head.

Probley undercharged, this condition isn't good for the compressor or the clutch, the clutch is getting cycled repeatedly and will soon slip and burn up the compressor is getting deprived of lubrication as PAG oil flows with refrigerant that is absent.

A vehicle will leak refrigerant from the DAY its new, sealed system my ***. It only leaks in a small amount though through seals and schrader valves enough though that in 4-5 years system is undercharged.

You should get your AC evacuated recharged and add dye by a professional.

Could it be undercharged and still blow cold air as if no problems? Also it's just the compressor recycling. The air doesn't stop.
thanks

not enough refrigerant in the system, the system cuts out when its low. i would try recharging it, if it comes back later, you have a leak.

blow cold in optimal conditions 75* day 30mph cruise yeah it probley will. Sit and idle in traffic on a 90* day and thoes vents are gonna blow 90*.

Recharged but by a professional, these backyard guys who recharge cars don't even vacuum and charge with 16oz. cans always end up bringing their car to shop.

most people dont have access to a compressor or other tools required to vacuum out the system. why would you have to vacuum it out to add a little refrigerant?

you dont, addin a lil wont hurt nothing. keep in mind compressors engage and disengage all the time unless its on wide open.

thats what i thought. if the compressor is kicking on and off constantly then you are low on refrigerant, the pressure decreases when the a/c kicks on, and the system has a failsafe to kickoff the compressor when the pressure is too low, so it kicks on, then kicks off when the pressure is low, then the pressure comes back up and kicks on again, adding more refrigerant should stop this now if this fixes it or not depends soley on how bad of a leak you have, the refrigerant usually has a leak sealer in it and just filling it up can stop it, but it depends.
