Camaro Is Back ! ? ! ? ! ? !
The New edition of Hot Rodding has the editor quoting that it is a certainty from GM the CAMARO will be back in 2007 on its new platform. It is going to be sharing the same platform as the possible buick model "VELITE". The articel says buick is taking a stab at the younger market because its average buyer is 60. There is of course talk of the LS2 being in it i know that the VELITE they have a small article on it in there as well and its got a 3.6l twin turbo making 400/400. The BAD NEWS is he states that GM says FIREBIRD/TRANSAM will not be back. So like it says start saving your money!

If they **** up the camaro, its all over for GM. I think they should make the VELITE with a single turbo. 400hp/400blft....twin turbo ....i think they should be rippin more than that. But im sure a little boost adjustment should bring out some more power. I think GM is heading in a really good direction.
I kind of think they should have made a turbo 4 banger to compete with the SRT-4 because all of the SRT-4 guys will say "But it has a V-6 and Twin Turbos".

When I saw that little write up in Popular Hot Rodding it made me pretty happy. It will be intresting to see what they come up with for a design. The article did say that it will be a rear wheel drive V8. With the new Mustangs and the dodge Charger that is supposed to come out I think alittle pressure has been put on GM to bring out a badass muscle car.

What the heck kind of a name is "Velite"? Sounds like the name of some fly you'd like to swat.
I don't want a Camaro, I would prefer Firebird. Camaro styling has always been too tame for me. I might consider it if it looks like a Firebird.

Here is the link, with pictures, on the magazine's web site. I WILL be buying two when it comes out. One to keep bone stock (collector), and one to rip apart (racer).

With a name like "Velite" maybe that's why the average buick buyer is 60.

Those two links are ancient history, and the pics in the second link are in no way associated with GM. They were some concept pics a high school or college student created. The article covers all the details.
I believe the original poster was referring to the Editors Note in the recent PHR where he talks about Delphi telling people they had been given the responsibility of designing the steering column safety restraints for a 2007 Camaro. GM corporate has not made any statements to confirm or deny, but given Delphi is a division of GM, I think the info is pretty reliable. We still know nothing of what the car may end up looking like, though. Given the Velite is going to be a RWD 2 door 4 seater though, I don't think we have to worry about any sort of FWD Camaro abomination.
