Default Exhaust help!

2002 camaro ss. It currently has slp longtubes, kooks catted y pipe and stock slp muffler. I dont know what catback i want to get. I was thinking about a catless y pipe and maybe a loudmouth 1? But i heard they are way to loud. What are you guys running???

I would go with Loudmouth 2 between the two of their catbacks. Magnaflow also sounded fantastic on my LT1 1995 Camaro. I have a Borla on 1998 LS1 T/A and it sounds really clean, but it also is stupidly expensive and I wouldn't have bought it (it came with the car from the last owner.) It's also super quiet, even with the restrictive plates removed on a catless Y/race long tube, so I took them off to dump at axle until I can get the electric cutout installed.

Here is a video of mine. It's got headers into a catless Y into an SLP LM1 cat back. It's what was on the car when I bought it and it is definitely loud, especially at wide open throttle. It doesn't really bother me too much in the cab, but I like my cars loud. I personally love it, but I can see how it could be a nuisance if you preferred a quieter ride as well.

Other than the insane amount of rasp the LM1/ORY/longtubes setup sounds great lol. My car came with that setup and I quickly switched the LM1 resonator to a Magnaflow bullet muffler in its place. Much better IMO

^ do you have any sound clips by chance? Also, was the magnaflow muffler a direct replacement for the LM1 resonator or does it require modification?

I don't have any clips unfortunately, and yes the Magnaflow 14419 muffler was a direct replacement. Maybe having a big cam made the LM1 setup more raspy too, but I also had the stock Pacesetter ORY which had a horrible merge, making the rasp even worse yet. The combo of the Magnaflow bullet muffler and Flowmaster merge eliminated 90% of the rasp, made the tone much deeper, and still loud as hell at WOT.

Most answers your going to get will be personal opinions. Check out youtube. They have quite a bit of ls1 exhaust videos. If I'm throwing my two cents in, Ive been really impressed with my Hooker aerochamber catback. One of the better flowing mufflers out there with great tone to match.

Thanks for the info HCI! I've recently put a cam in mine and it is pretty raspy. It was even before the cam. I may have to try throwing the magnaflow muffler in the resonators place and see how much it cuts down on the rasp.

No problem man. Not sure what y-pipe you have, but if the merge on it is crappy, having a good one in its place will help cut down on the rasp big time

I've got the pacesetter Y, so yes the merge on it Leaves a lot to be desired. I may have to consider a flowmaster merge as well.

I have a Hooker exhaust with their Long Tubes. I like loud cars but it's ok like 7 for loudness 10 being a Loud Mouth which is basically a hollowed out exhaust. It has a unique cougar like sound that no other exhaust can make.

If you have the stock SLP Dual Dual on your SS, that's one of the best mufflers around. The only thing you have to gain by changing it is noise. Which maybe is what you want.
