Unhappy 5.3 Rebuild

Hello I'm new to the whole LS engine so I'm looking for some advice.
I have a 2005 Silverado with a 5.3 L33 engine that had a piston failure at 169,000 miles, So I remove the engine and trans to get them both rebuilt. I sent the engine to the machine shop and had them install a Comp cam, double B hive springs and LS7 lifters. The cam specs are 223/231 duration with a 610/617 lift 112 lobe center. The trans was rebuilt with a Transgo shift kit HD2 and has a 2000 stall converter. I also installed Long tube headers, Cold air intake and throttle body spacer. After getting the truck back together I was told to start it up and check all fluids and then tow it to the shop to be tuned. The shop has tried for over a 3 days to try and tune this engine and it simply will not tune. I have contacted everyone from Comp cams, Summit, Jegs, TCI, Circle D, transmission shops and tuners and everyone give me different answers. The Motorsport shops telling me that they have tried everything they know about tuning these engines and have never had this issue. They are telling me that the cam is to big or the converter is to small for the cam. What's so frustrating is that Comp cams gave me 2 different opinions. One said its the wrong cam and the other said its the right cam but the converters to small. So where do I go from here?
Looking for Answers!!

Nothing wrong with comp, or the cam you've gotten.
The shop you have doing it just simple doesn't know what they're doing.

Most of the people I've talked to say the same thing, go somewhere else and get it tuned. But quite a few are saying the stall converter is to small. I'm also looking at the Texas speed truck cam stage 2
Thanks

That cam is very large for any DD 5.3l esp in a truck. Itll need more stall than a 2k. Think 2600-2800.

What exactly is the tuning issue? "Cant get it tuned" isnt a very descriptive statement. Does it mean misfires? Surging? Cutting out? Knocking? High idle?
More info needed.

Take the tb spacer off also. ive seen them create odd tuning issues and they are worthless.

According to the shop it will not idle or make horse power. It will not tune on the Dyno, it will run at a idle for a few minutes then kill. We are taking the engine apart and will be replacing the cam. I plan on keeping the 2000 stall and trying to decide what cam to use.
Thanks

If they are trying to tune it on the dyno and it wont even run and drive first, find a different place.
The tsp stg 2 high lift truck cam will fit that setup very well.

Hello again, I finally replace the cam shaft with another Comp cam same as the Texas speed truck cam 212/218. After replacing the cam we were able to get the truck tuned and it runs like a scared rabbit, it blows the tires in first and catches second gear. I'm having an issue with the truck idling. It's sounds like a miss and its burning very rich, I mean if you stand on side my truck it will make you sick. I'm running with long tune headers with Y pipe no cats. Looking for suggestions

1. it wont be the same as the tsp cam
2. it seems like it still needs a tune or more tuning

If I reinstall the Cats with Flow masters or any other brand do you think it will bog the engine down?

Default Truck Idling to high

I resently finished rebuilding the engine in my truck . When I got the truck back I noticed that the idle on the truck was a little high. It’s idleling around 800 rpm. The shop that tuned it said that’s normal. Before the rebuild the engine idle was around 500 when the engine warmed up. Is there any way to lower the idle myself or do I need it to be tuned?

That cam or smaller shouldn't need an 800rpm idle. You can only change thru tune.
