New(ish) to cars. Please help Camaro LS3
I'm currently saving 10-15k for a build. I'm looking at building a 4th gen camaro with my father. I've worked on cars a little bit, but I don't know a whole lot. My father is good with cars, although it will be me researching and buying parts. I need advice with pretty much everything on the car. I currently don't have a Camaro for the build yet but I was thinking 99-02 z28 or ss manual. I want to swap the ls1 with an ls3. I'm not sure if I should buy the ls3 376/480 or go aftermarket with the cam. My goal is 400 Hp+ also should I buy a built transmission? I need as much advice as I can get, if you've read this far, thank you!

Pretty sure if you bought a crate ls3 it came with 430 at the fw.
For what you're looking at, your power goals are extremely underrated, especially with your budget. Invest that kind of money into an ls3 and you should be pushing well over 500rwhp with a fairly decent cam.
If you're set on the 6.2L route, I know the ws6store has an ls3 that comes with a 24x reluctor wheel, so you don't need to buy a converter or anything like that.
Ultimately though, you need to decide on what you plan to do with the car (street, drag, street/strip, etc.), how driveable you want it, and how you want to make the power (N/A, Nitrous, boost, etc.)
Once you do that, we can really start helping you plan out a build.
Shoot me a PM if you have questions

I live in Nova Scotia and travel to Texas frequently, do you think a stock Camaro would make the 5k mile trip from Texas back to where I live? I've also looked into building just the ls1 to save money and time, so I may buy a stock camaro in texas and drive it home. Also what are your recommendations on mods? From engine to suspension, pretty much anything. Thanks for your time!

To reach 400+rwhp...
With the LS1: get the stock heads ported, upgrade the cam, LS6 intake (if you buy a '99-'00), larger intake lid, headers, exhaust, and a tune.
With the LS3: cam upgrade, larger intake lid, headers, exhaust, and a tune.
As stated before, with the LS3 you can easily make 500rwhp if you use your budget wisely.
The T56 will take 400rwhp.
