Default SS or z28

I purchased an 01 Camaro SS. It has the hood, wing, rims, badging of the ss but wanted to verify. The drivers door was replaced before I bought it and they didn’t put the stickers with the codes back on it. Any other way to confirm?

You checked the VIN number?

Yes. And I believe all ss are registered as z28s. I think the ss package only shows on that code sticker on door jamb

Go to a dealer parts department and they can print a build sheet if you give them the VIN. That will list all the RPO codes. WU8 indicates the "SS" model option.

Thanks I called a dealership and he did verify it was a SS. Also he told me those codes arent on the door. It is in glove box or spare tire. I checked those areas and its not there either

On my 01 the spid sticker is definitely on the drivers door. I'm sure locations vary on different models but afaik they are always on the drivers door in 4th gen f-bodies.

He is incorrect. As mentioned above, the SPID is always on the driver's door jamb for your particular vehicle, it would never be located anywhere else from the factory on an '01 F-body.

You'll need a WU8 code and an SLP sticker on the drivers & passenger side doors for it to be a true SS. If no sticker is available, the SLP website will confirm or deny if you provide the VIN.

Not all WU8 "SS" cars will have the SLP sticker on the passenger door. I believe they only have those if there are SLP installed options beyond the standard SS package. This would also be indicated by a Y2Y RPO on the drivers door SPID.

This is correct, the passenger side sticker is not mandatory SS equipment, it would only be present if additional Y2Y content was ordered beyond the base WU8 package.

Having said that, in the later years the Y2Y RPO began to appear on all SS models, additional content or not, though that passenger side sticker was still only for cars that actually received additional content.

Is there a way to get replacement stickers? My driver side door sticker is no longer legible.

You mean the GM ones or the SLP sticker? GM will not reproduce these, but there are companies that do offer the service (usually only to body shops though, to prevent fraud.) As for the SLP content sticker, I don't believe that SLP offers repros at this time but I'm not absolutely sure.

Seems like SLP is not willing or able to reproduce these:
