VOLANT Cold Air Intake review?

VOLANT Cold Air Intake review?
Does anyone have a review of the VOLANT cool air intake for a 2000 formula firebird V8?
How is this one compared to the SLP Intake lid?
Would a ram air hood and a VOLANT CAI work the same as the SLP Lid?
I'm thinking of putting one on, I can get one relatively inexpensive and takes an hour to install. Also what size is the breather filter stock? Think it said 1.5 H and 0.75" opening
thanks

I am so new, I don't even know what you mean by that. Are those types of Hoods?? For half the price I can go with VOLANT and build a plastic piece to go from hood right to air filters since box is exposed in front of motor under hood. Is a lid a C.A.I kit?

2000 Pontiac Firebird Formula V8 questions
I ordered the VOLANT below since I got A good deal on it. I was thinking of building a plastic box to go to Ram Air Hood. Should serve same purpose but I see what your saying that bypasses the two filters and just 'rams' the air into the breather.

Best COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM
HI, I have a newly purchased 2000 Firebird. It's the Formula LS1 5.7L V8, but unfortunately it's not a ram air or WS6
My question is, without the car having the Ram Air Hood (which fits an SLP Lid good I heasr), would a VOLANT Cold Air Intake fit?
How does a cold air intake work when the hood is stock? As in no air is coming in from the hood? I was thinking of going with a Ram Air WS6 Hood to allow for air to hit the twin filter set up as below. Any thoughts FirebirdNation?

I'm running the volant setup with a vfn ram air hood. Had to do a little modding to the volant setup and hood to make the filters sit directly in the scoops and seal to the hood. Majority run a lid setup as I went from a ws6 sealed setup to this. No back to back track results but I'm very happy with the volant. I swear my tb/intake feel a little cooler to the touch after a drive. I think if you have a ram air hood this setups works good!

You're probably not going to see a huge difference just with intake, its a package deal with complete intake (inc manifold) and exhaust with tune.
That being said the best intake is one that keeps the air straight and that dual filter thing aint it. Filter and lid are best with ram air and cheapest. Could open up the front grill and go with a Corvette style but that more work and money.
Of course you already bought the Volant so its a moot point
