New LS technology
Recently toured the engine plant in Tonawanda NY last week and I was impressed. From the measuring equipment to the RFID bolt that stores ALL the specifics on testing data to that specific block is amazing. The engine should easily get 300k (under normal use) without an issue. The new fuel management will let the motor run on as low as 1 cylinder fired randomly. And the valves will be digitally controlled.

My personal interest in a V8 engine running on as little as 1 cylinder is about as great as my interest in a soft rubber crutch. But then, I've never looked at MPG as any significant concern when purchasing a V8 vehicle in the first place. I guess better MPG is good for the truck guys who are buying these engines for utility rather than pleasure.
You are aware of a thing called "marketing" right? And where do you get this pulled-from-your-a$$ number of 300k miles? You must be that guy that buys everything you see on QVC because the salesman says it's amazing!
it’s called engineering. The number wasnt pulled from my *** as you said. The developers need to produce and engine that can have a warranty for 100k so if they just aimed for 100 the percentage that failed under would be too high. So when I was touring the engine plant and the machinist that measures all the specs of the block had mentioned that they are expected to easily (with proper maintenance) make it to 300k. Now that does NOT include all externals you might have a starter or alternator or something to that effect but the eternal rotating assembly. I see LSs online with 3 4 and 500k all the time.
GM has a machine that runs new engines 24/7 until the engine blows to see what they're working with. When they first developed the LS1 the test stopped around 200k miles because they needed the machine for another engine. They were confident it could hit 300k but they couldn't claim that since they had to stop the test early. Real world doesn't always match their test though since the test is absolute perfect conditions.

That was kind of the point I was trying to make. They don’t guarantee 300k but they engineer a higher standard to reach their goals. Like safety factors for lifting equipment a 1 ton jack has to hold 2 tons for the rating.
I’m not sure about the Swedes technology.

Very cool engine plant, with a lot of history (big blocks, L88, ZL1, etc.). I grew up in Tonawanda and my uncle worked there for years. Funny story: He was a dyed-in-the-wool Mopar guy, street raced Ontario street and would drive his cars to work. Superbirds, Demon, Road Runners, etc. I'm sure that was a funny sight to see!
Here ya go. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/ko...n-action-video While Koenigsegg has put a bunch of development time in on 'electric camshafts' (computer controlled valve timing/lift), the technology has been in the works for well over 20 years. Trick is making it cost effective, as usual.
