Talking 400whp

Hey guys I’m new here. I have a stock 2000 trans am and I’m looking to get to about 400whp or so from a head/cam/and stall upgrade. What would y’all recommend to stay under my budget of about $2,700 and get close to those numbers. I’ve seen some head/cam packages on Texas speed but still wanted to get other inputs.

A good cam/spring kit, PRC ported heads, and long tubes will get you 400whp pretty easily. You'll need a tune though.
Your intake manifold will be your biggest restriction.

To stay within that budget, you would have to do the work yourself. Labor alone would probably exceed your budget. With that in mind, I would start with the easy stuff first.

1) SLP airbox lid---------->$100
2) LS6 intake--------------->$300
3) 243 heads---------------->$400
4) cam (228/232-ish)----->$390
5) springs, seals, etc.--->$800
6) headers/Y-pipe---------->$900
_______________________________
total-------------------------->$2,890.00

These are rough estimates, so you might be able to find some stuff cheaper. If you keep the stock exhaust, you could get better heads. You can also sell some of the stuff you take off, so that will help off-set the expenses.

I had a mild cam in my auto c5, with AI ported 241’s and saw over 420 rw
