Default New guy needs help.

Hi, I just recently purchased a 98 Camaro, Z-28 model. It has the following modifications:
Hooker Long Tube Headers,Custom Y-pipe, Whisper Lid, K&N Filter, and a Granatelli MAF.

I seem to be having a bit of trouble. Once in awhile I get a really rough idle. Then when I step on the throttle it runs very bad for a few seconds then runs fine. It almost seems as though the car does not realize that the throttle blade is open and is not feeding enough fuel. This only happens once in awhile for a few minutes, sometimes just a few seconds then it goes away and runs fine.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

O2 sensors maybe, otherwise ignition related...plugs, wires, coils.

I forgot to mention that this car has new plugs and MSD wires. I'll have to look into the sensors and coils.

-Thanks

You have several mods, each of which are known
to mess the tune around. As a new vehicle, you
may not know whether it's ever been retuned to
deal appropriately with the GMAF, headers. As a
simple start I'd recommend you clean the GMAF to
eliminate any oil-film corruption of the MAF
(making a lean situation even worse).

The previous owner said the car had never been tuned. I do know it is need of one. The AIR, EGR and rear O2's need to be deleted or bypassed. I was looking at HPTuner but, I have not decided yet whether or not to get it.

The car ran fine for the first month I had it. Then several nights ago it was sitting at idle for a little while, then this problem started.

I also replaced the GMAF with the stock unit and the problem continued.

MAF is clean, double checked wires and plugs. Coils are ok, O2's seem to be doing there job fine. I'm not getting a SES code for the TPS or a IAC. I was starting to think it was bad gas but, I've refilled since this first started.

Hopefully you refilled it with 91 octane or higher.

O2 sensors dont always throw codes.
