Engine disassemble
As mentioned lube everything up. Definitely use grease if it's going to be long term storage.
I haven't tried the spray on white lithium grease as I feel it's a little on the messy side.
Currently using Crown Corrosion Suppressant 101 at the recomendation of my machinist.
The biggest thing with storing anything for a length time is the environment it's stored in, My garage/shop is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer and humidity is kept low so I can have bare metal sit for days to weeks with no signs of rust. If I store anything in my storage shed it has to be treated or it will show surface rust after a couple days.

Most big shops have a guy who oils stuff daily, along with other tasks besides actual machining. As FastBrick mentioned, don’t lay the crank on its side. Stand it on its end, or hang it from the flywheel flange if you have the means. Extended periods of a crank laying on its side will cause it to bend or twist.

I asked a metallurgist one time and he said why are people saying you can't? I told him what most people say is that the crank will bend over time. He asked how people say they should be stored and I told him either by standing on end or by hanging them from one end. He laughed and said if they will bend while laying on it's side then they will stretch or compress if hung or stood upright. He also said if they were made of a material that was so weak that it was prone to stretching/compressing/twisting without an external force you wouldn't want it in your engine because it would bend or break the first time you tried to start it.
