So you bought a car then went out on the highways and topped it out and didn't even notice the temperature until it was in a critical state so now you're on here asking questions?

How old are you because you're either young and foolish or too ignorant to give a damn.

A likey scenario is that it wasn’t over heating until something got messed up at redline. You know kinda like how dudes blow motors at the drag strip. Reeeev Ka-BOOM!

Engine under load will generate heat, we all know that. Good possibility it was low on coolant, ran fine cruising, then the Heads became a steam pocket while at high RPM during full send.

I crammed an LS1 in an S10 one time and on some runs it slung the belt. Didn't know until the truck shut off and I coasted to the shoulder, I had the tune setup to pull like 20* of timing and make it absolutely pig rich if the temp goes above 215. All my cars are setup that way, good safety feature if something happens.
