Trust me I am by no means saying the SS is a faster, more superior car. (Although I don't know many people that think a Z28 w/ ground effects is better looking than an SS) I personally like the look better and figured I'd spring for the SS option since it was the last year for the car to be produced. My old 99 was a plain TA, but I added the ws6 hood, wheels, along with MANY other aftermarket parts. I beat many WS6s and SSs when it was stock. As long as it is an LS1, I like it and give it respect.

Remember, the WS6 name was origanally a suspension package and I beleive that the WS6 & SS cars may have bigger sway bars and slightly stiffer springs. Still looks killer!!

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL TOPIC:

Congrats on the SS. Saleens are overrated and overpriced. You gotta a heck of deal too with those mods.

The S281 is not supercharged, and the S381 is. I think. During my last year of college, 2003, there were two saleens in my neighborhood. Little rich kids. Anywho, the 281 was slow as hell and the 381 wasnt anything to write home about. They did look good and sound good, but still were fords.

Welcome to the board.

All s281 saleens after 99 had a supercharged option. More than half were made with superchargers from 99-04. THe s351 is a vortech supercharged 351 with 500 hp. I am impressed with my SS but still dont think I would want any of that.
My Saleen had 380 hp and would hang with most cars, not to mention looked better than most.

Go ahead, try me! You're right, it sucks turning heads and having enthusiasts talk to me. Also sucks having an original hood, rims, embroidery, LS6 block/intake, Blackwing Lid, and SLP D/D already done.

Sorry, I had to. All in fun! I agree, it is pricey for what it's worth. But it's original, so it sold me.

EDIT: Oh, and congrats on coming to our side. Nice car.

Congrats on your new purchase. You should be good for mid 12's to low 12's with that setup.

I sold my cobra for a 2000 ws6. loudmouth & lid. Its amazing how much more torque down low you have with the extra cubes. I love the ls1. Only thing I miss from the stang is the 4:30 gear.

There was a guy(Todd, I think his name was) that used to come into the shop I used to manage. He had a 1998 GT that he modded to look like a cobra. Nice car. He then went out and bought a Saleen S281 and brought it by on a day that I happened to have driven the 'Killer to work. I asked if he wanted to run and he laughed. He said "You know this car is slow, right? It just looks good and handles well. I wouldn't race you if my life was at stake!".
I had a lot of respect for that guy. He knew what he had, and what I had and didn't try to be too cocky about his Saleen. Props to guys like that!
BTW-The 'Killer is the '67, not the '98, lest you flame.

The only thing credit I give to a Mustang is the sound and the girls like them. Of course where I'm from all you have to have is a loud A$$ junky 4X4 to pick up women and if it is a Dodge that makes it even better "YEEHAW". The Saleen looks good. But if you put that kind of money in a F-Body I don't think you would have to worry about any mustang lookin better or being faster. I drove a 02 S381 is was pretty quick out of the hole. But think my Z pulls alot harder past 60mph than that mustang did. Also I drove a 99 m5 GT convertible and I'm not even going to go there.
