Not really. With the way the analysis look now I don't see a need to change to a heaver viscosity oil. Maybe someday if the analysis show more wear or the engine starts to consume oil I might switch to the 10w40 or the Racing 41.

Default Just drain it?

So when switching to Synthetic, just drain it, change the filter, pour in the synthetic and your good to go?

Either one of those two oils would work very well, so choose the one that is easier to get or cheaper for you. Doing a used oil analysis might be a good idea too, although my gut feeling says both of those oils would show wear numbers very similar.

Go with the K&N HP2006 oil filter.

You can safely go 6000 miles or one year on that oil. You could go even longer than 6000 miles if you do a lot of highway driving. I plan on doing mostly 6000 mile intervals with GC 0w30 in my car, although next summer I'll probably push the interval longer (perhaps as long as 10k just for kicks)

I know someone who worked for Doug Nash & peerless doing transmissions & other related things a few years back. He told me that if you switch from regular oil to the synthetic after you have a few thousand miles on your engine that it will cause a build up of some sort on the internal parts. I forgot how he worded it exactly. But he said they tore some of the engines down and found that most of the internal parts were all covered with a black build up. And that they determined that it was from switching over to the different oil (synth). But if they ran the synth in the engines all along they were all clean when tore down & same as the engines with mineral oils. Anybody heard of this? Cause I would like to switch myself but being told this has kinda kept me buying the other oils.

If I were to switch sould I just keep buing the 5w30 but a synthetic or something else? Engine has 62K on it and dosent use oil & the only mods I have are in the sig below.
